ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomed a high-level delegation from Oman on Monday, led by Qais Mohammed al-Yousef, Oman's Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, to discuss expanding diplomatic and economic ties.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including trade, industry, and investment. Discussions also included plans to open an Omani Consulate General in Erbil in the near future, a step seen as crucial in strengthening bilateral relations.
The Omani minister expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his country's commitment to deepening its partnership with the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted Oman’s interest in fostering stronger economic relations and exploring new investment opportunities in various sectors.
PM Barzani reiterated the Region’s willingness to develop a strategic partnership with Oman, emphasizing the mutual benefits of stronger economic and diplomatic engagement. He welcomed increased Omani investments in the region, particularly in commerce, infrastructure, and energy.
The visit marks a significant step in fostering closer relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Sultanate of Oman, paving the way for expanded collaboration and investment opportunities.
