ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani engaged on Thursday in several high-profile meetings on the third day of the World Economic Forum in Davos, addressing pivotal political and economic issues.
In his first meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shuaibani, discussions centered on Syria's current state, bilateral relations, and recent regional developments. Shuaibani underscored the integral role of Kurds in Syria, stating, "The rights of Kurds must be safeguarded." He extended an invitation for PM Barzani to visit Damascus, expressing hopes for a strengthened partnership.
PM Barzani later met with French Minister for European and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot. The Prime Minister highlighted the historic friendship between France and the Kurdistan Region, thanking France for its unwavering support. Talks focused on enhancing bilateral ties, the successful Kurdistan parliamentary elections, and the ongoing efforts to form a new cabinet while addressing disputes with the Iraqi federal government.
In another significant meeting, he met Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman. Discussions revolved around bolstering Kurdistan-Croatia relations, particularly in economic and investment sectors. Both sides reaffirmed the need to strengthen cooperation in trade and resource development.
These strategic meetings at Davos highlight the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and addressing shared political and economic challenges within the broader region.
