Over 171,000 Vehicles Imported Through Kurdistan in 2023

ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Ministry of Trade and Industry announced that over 171,000 vehicles were imported into the Region through its border crossings in 2023.

Nawzad Sheikh Adham, General Director of Trade at the ministry, told BasNews that 924 licenses were granted last year to traders for importing vehicles through the Kurdistan Region's four border gates.

Adham clarified that not all the vehicles were destined for Kurdistan, as many were transported to other parts of Iraq. He also noted that the vehicles were imported from various countries, including China, Japan, the United States, Germany, and Gulf Arab states.

The official highlighted that the vehicles adhere to specific conditions and standards. Additionally, every year, decisions are made to ban the import of older vehicle models before the end of the calendar year to maintain the quality and safety of imports.
