ERBIL — The United Arab Emirates’ newly appointed Ambassador to Iraq, Sheikh Abdulla Matar al-Mazrouei, visited Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in the region.
The two leaders also addressed key regional challenges, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to maintain security and stability in Iraq and the wider Middle East. Their discussions underscored a shared commitment to advancing peace and development through partnership.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Sheikh al-Mazrouei on his new role and reaffirmed the KRG’s commitment to fostering strong ties with the UAE. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation across various sectors to enhance bilateral relations.
Sheikh al-Mazrouei conveyed warm greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan and highlighted the UAE’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions in Syria, with political experts warning that pro-Iran militias could drag Iraq into the conflict.
