KDP Engages in Discussions with Parties to Form New Government

ERBIL — A delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has initiated talks with political parties in the Kurdistan Region to expedite the formation of a new government.

Since last week, the KDP delegation, focused on parliamentary proceedings and forming the tenth cabinet, has met with various political entities, including the Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) and Kurdistan Justice Group (KJG).

The KDP aims to obtain common consent from all parties to accelerate parliamentary processes and cabinet formation. While the KIU has declared its intent to remain in opposition, the KJG has refrained from entering the Kurdistan Parliament. These decisions add a layer of complexity to the KDP’s efforts to secure cooperation and create a stable administration for the Region.

Following the recent parliamentary elections in October, KDP’s leadership in government formation is now centered on achieving consensus to navigate the challenges posed by opposition stances and ensure effective governance in the new term.
