KRG Interior Minister, German Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed met on Friday with Roman Pozek, the Hessian State Interior Minister in Germany, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination between their respective ministries.

The meeting, held at the Interior Ministry headquarters in Wiesbaden, focused on various areas of mutual interest. Key topics included the exchange of expertise in police capacity building, civil defense, criminal evidence handling, and addressing illegal immigration.

Minister Ahmed expressed gratitude to the German government and its citizens for their continued support, particularly for their assistance to refugees and the Peshmerga forces in the fight against Islamic State (IS). He emphasized the Region’s commitment to upholding the values of democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression, highlighting the sacrifices made by Kurdistan in these areas.

The discussions aimed to foster a closer working relationship between the two interior ministries, with both parties recognizing the importance of international collaboration in addressing common security challenges.
