ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Dubai where they discussed the latest developments in Iraq.

During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the significance of enhancing cooperation and coordination as essential measures in preserving the security and stability of Iraq and the wider region, PM Barzani’s office said in a statement.

The Kurdish leader underscored the mutual interest in fostering strong ties between Kurdistan and Turkey, acknowledging the critical role of collaboration in addressing shared challenges and promoting prosperity in the region.

“During #WGS24, President @RTErdogan and I explored ways to deepen our relationship.,” Prime Minister Barzani said in a statement on his official Facebook page. “We also discussed recent events in Iraq and the region.”

The prime minister landed in Dubai on Monday to participate in the World Governments Summit, scheduled from February 12 to 14. His presence was at the invitation of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
