Turkey Bombs Amedi District, Kills One Civilian

ERBIL — Suspected Turkish fighter jets on Tuesday bombed the Bamarne subdistrict near Amedi district in Duhok province, killing one civilian and injuring three others, according to preliminary reports.

The bombing happened early in the morning around 7am. The injured have now been transported to Duhok hospitals for medical treatment.

Over the span of four decades, the ongoing conflict between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has profoundly altered daily life in the Kurdistan Region, resulting in numerous civilian casualties, the evacuation of thousands of villages, and the abandonment of mountain resorts and vast stretches of arable land.

On Monday, Turkey's National Defense Ministry announced its forces "neutralized" five fighters of the Kurdistan Workers' Party in an air raid in the Kurdistan Region.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply actions like killing or arresting in the context of the country's military operations against the PKK.
