ERBIL — A Kurdish actress from Halabja, made history by clinching the top prize as the first Kurdish actress at the sixth Baghdad International Theater Festival, held under the supervision of the Culture Minister.
Chawan Khalil portrayed the lead character in "Being Woman Is Harsh," a play written and directed by Rizgar Faqeh. The production sheds light on the hardships and challenges faced by women in Kurdish and Southwest Asian societies.
Acknowledged as the standout participant at the festival, she views this achievement as a significant milestone for Kurdish actresses. She has decided to donate her prize in tribute to all Kurdish women and actresses, as reported by Kurdistan 24.
