ERBIL — Iraqi PM Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Thursday was received by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris where they signed a number of strategic agreements between the two countries.
The agreements are aimed at developing economic cooperation between Baghdad and Paris, according to a statement by Prime Minister Sudani.
"A short while ago, friend Mr. Macron and I signed the Strategic Partnership Agreement, which sets a roadmap for expanding the horizons of cooperation between our two countries in various fields," Sudani wrote on Twitter following his meeting with the French president.
The pair signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding in combating corruption and recovering stolen Iraqi funds, a strategic partnership agreement to increase economic as well as security cooperation, and a joint declaration on cultural heritage and antiquities maintenance.
The Iraqi prime minister had also been set to meet with representatives of French companies related to developing transport sectors through activating vital transport projects, his office said in a statement.
