ERBIL — Turkey claimed on Sunday that its National Intelligence Organization (MiT) has “neutralized” a senior member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Sinjar, a security source said.
The individual in question was identified by an unnamed security sources as Bedirhan Abi, codenamed Darav Gevda.
Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply whether the individual in question was killed or arrested.
Abi, who joined the PKK in 2011, operated in southeastern Turkey, Kurdistan Region, and northern Iraq, and he was involved in numerous attacks on Turkish security forces, the source added.
He reportedly oversaw the operations of a unit of the PKK-affiliated Sinjar Resistance Unit (YBS) in the predominantly Yezid region.
