ERBIL — Casualties were reported on Tuesday afternoon after a Turkish shelling hit a civilian house in the Syrian Kurdish town of Qamishlo, sources said.
The Turkish army bombarded positions of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with heavy weapons in the villages of Sikarka and Tel Ziwan in the eastern countryside of Qamishlo.
Local sources told BasNews that clashes erupted between the Turkish army and SDF with heavy weapons near the border east of Qamishlo, resulting in the wounding of civilians.
The bombardments targeted a house in Sikirka village, the sources said without elaborating on the number of civilians wounded in the Turkish shelling.
The bombardment came only hours after the SDF targeted the Turkish army positions in east of Qamishlo "with mortars and heavy machine guns."
A Turkish drone airstrike earlier the day targeted a military outpost of the SDF near a tunnel at around 13:00 (Local Time) and killed three fighters.
Speaking to BasNews a the time, a source pointed out that two other SDF fighters were seriously injured and transferred to a military hospital in Qamishlo.
