ERBIL — A bomb explosion on Thursday resulted in the wounding of two Iraqi federal policemen in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk.
Daquq Mayor Luis Fandi confirmed the report to BasNews and said that the incident took place in Rashad sub-district where an explosive device left two policemen severely injured.
The pair was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, the official added.
Although no group or organization was immediately blamed for the bombing, the Islamic State (IS) remains the main suspect as the jihadist group still poses a serious threat to Iraq's security.
IS militants on Tuesday night carried out an attack against a unit of the Iraqi Army near the village of Kashkoll, in Qara Tapa town of Khanaqin district, where five soldiers were killed and four others were wounded.
