ERBIL — Political parties in Baghdad should commit to principles of partnership and consensus, Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), said on Thursday.
Barzani made the remarks during a meeting with British Ambassador to Iraq Mark Bryson-Richardson in Erbil, the Barzani Headquarters said in a press release, adding that the meeting was also attended by UK Consul General David Hunt.
The latest political developments in Iraq, including the obstacles faced by the process of formation of a new government, were highlighted during the meeting, the press release said.
The Kurdish leader, according to the press release, stressed the need for all parties in Iraq to commit to the principles of partnership and consensus.
He also emphasized that Baghdad and all parties should respect the constitution and autonomy of the Kurdistan Region and its people, and fulfill its financial obligations.
