ERBIL — A huge fire broke out on Thursday at Bajid Kandal Camp of Duhok province, burning scores of tents down to ashes.
Casualties and the exact scale of damage are not known yet, but local officials said more than 20 tents were believed to have been burned.
The cause of the fire is not determined yet as investigations are still underway.
Bajid Kandal Camp is home to over 1,600 Yezidi families (nearly 8,500 individuals) who have escaped their homes in Sinjar since 2014 when the Islamic State (IS) attacked the region.
