ERBIL — The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Wednesday killed two "terrorists" in Syria's Deir Ezzor province, a statement said.
The two individuals were killed during an operation carried out by the SDF's special units in Deir Ezzor, the SDF's Coordination and Military Operations Center said in a statement.
However, it was not clear if the two suspects were members of the Islamic State (IS), which is still active in the region and continue to pose a serious threat to the security in northeast of Syria.
The SDF said on Monday that its forces had captured an IS cell, consisting of three militants, in Jurdhi area of Deir Ezzor province.
The cell used to "recruit civilians" and deliver bombing M-cycles, and facilitate terrorists transportation, the SDF said in a statement at the time, noting that equipment and weapons were also seized.
In a similar statement on Sunday, the SDF's Coordination and Military Operations Center said that the SDF cooperatively with the US-led Coalition captured "an important Daesh leader inside Hasakah."
"He was active in delivering IED's, bombing vehicles, transferring Daesh individuals &families &getting deep involvement in execution crimes," the statement added. "Weapons &equipment were confiscated."
