ERBIL — The UAE-based Dana Gas confirmed on Monday that it is coordinating with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraqi government to protect the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah province after the recent rocket attacks.
In a statement to Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), the company said although the rocket attacks on Friday and Saturday did not cause any casualties or material damage, security enhancements were required at the Kurdistan Region's Khor Mor gas field.
Dana Gas confirmed that it was closely coordinating with the KRG, the Iraqi federal government, as well as other local armed forces to protect the Kurdistan Region's largest gas field.
"As a response to these attacks the KRG has taken all necessary measures to enhance security measures in Khor Mor including the mobilisation of further armed forces to protect the facilities," the statement said.
However, the UAE-based energy firm Dana Gas pointed out that it has temporarily suspended its project of KM 250 expansion following the recent rocket attacks against the Khor Mor field.
The region's key gas field came under a rocket attack last Wednesday, resulting in the wounding of two contractors. However, Dana Gas soon confirmed that the operations were normal at the field.
On Friday and Saturday, two more rocket attacks targeted the Khor Mor gas field without causing an casualties or material damage. However, Iraqi Army and Peshmerga forces were deployed to the site in efforts to prevent further possible attacks.
