ERBIL — Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Safin Dzayee, has strongly condemned Saturday's "terrorist attack" on Kurdistan Region's largest gas field of Khor Mor in Chamchamall.
"I strongly condemn the terrorist attack on Khor Mor gas field in Chamchamal district," Dzayee wrote on Twitter. "Federal Gov must take immediate action to prevent further attacks & hold those responsible accountable."
He further stressed that the KRG, however, will take "all measures to safeguard the wellbeing of field workers & local population."
The Khor Mor gas field, which is run by UAE-based Dana Gas, came under a rocket attack earlier today. No casualties or material damages were reported.
This was the third attack of this kind against the Kurdistan Region's key gas field within the past four days, without any group or organization claiming responsibility for them.
Kurdistan 24 reported this evening that a large number of Peshmerga and counter-terrorism forces of Kurdistan Region were deployed to the Khor Mor gas field, noting that the Kurdish forces were also joined by special units.
