ERBIL — A Kurdish man killed in a clash between migrants on their way from Greece to a destination in western Europe, according to a statement by the victim’s family.
Jegir Sherko Hassan, 31, was reported dead on June 18 after a group of Kurdish migrants clashed with Arabs in an area near Kosovo, Lutka Organization for Refugee and IDP Affairs said in a statement.
The reason for the violent clash, which also left one Arab migrant killed and several others injured, was not known.
Jegir’s family confirmed his death and said their last contact was a day before he embarked on the journey from Greece to one of the western European countries.
The family noted that Jegir left Erbil three years ago in search of a better life in Europe.
