ERBIL — An Iranian fighter jet crashed in central Iran on Saturday after the engine failed, media reports said.
Iranian IRNA news agency said the pilots survived the crash but they have been take to a hospital.
It said there was a technical failure in the engine of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat that led to the crash.
Videos circulating on social media purportedly showed columns of smoke billowing from the remains of the aircraft in a desert area near Isfahan.
In February this year, an Iranian fighter jet crashed into a soccer field in the country’s northwestern city of Tabriz, killing both pilots and a civilianIn.
Later in May, another jet crashed in the central desert of Iran, killing both pilots.
