ERBIL — The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has refuted reports claiming that the Kurdish party was planning a demonstration at Tahrir Square of capital Baghdad.
The KDP's 5th representation branch in Baghdad said in a statement that "irresponsible" media outlets are attempting to mislead the public opinion by spreading "false" news.
The major Kurdish party reaffirmed that it believes Tahrir Square in Baghdad is "the square of martyrs and victims, not a place to resolve political disputes."
If the party's supporters have any plans to stage a demonstration, it would be announced through the media, "but what is spread by the irresponsible media is an attempt to mislead the public opinion."
However, the KDP pointed out that demonstration for constitutional rights and against corruption is a right guaranteed by the Iraqi constitution to all Iraqi citizens.
