ERBIL — An Iraqi military delegation on Tuesday paid a visit to the disputed Kurdish district of Khanaqin where several people were killed in a deadly Islamic State (IS) attack a day earlier.
The delegation, led by Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command 1st Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Al-Shamari, visited Islah village in Jalawla, where IS militants last night raided a civilian house and killed a family of seven.
Nihad Mohammed, a former spokesperson for Diyala Police, confirmed to BasNews yesterday that the victim was identified as Adnan Othman.
In a separate incident, the jihadists set some agricultural fields on fire in Balldagh Dukishman, in Taza sub-district, leading to clashes between the militants and Iraqi security forces.
Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Service said in a statement at the time that two civilians were killed as a result of the IS attack.
