PM Barzani, Armenian President Discuss Trade and Investment Ties

ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday met with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan to discuss common interests in trade and investment between the sides.

The pair held the meeting on the sidelines of the annual summit of the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Prime Minister Barzani is holding separate meetings with various world leaders and speaks at a panel discussion on security in the Middle East.

"Friendly catch-up with President Vahagn Khachaturyan at WEF22. We explored common interests in trade and investment between the Kurdistan Region and Armenia," the Kurdish prime minister wrote on Twitter.

He earlier the day met with a Bahrain ministerial delegation led by Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy of the Gulf country, with whom he highlighted closer cooperation in different areas of common interest.

"We have a common agenda: better public finances, tax reform and an economy that works for everybody, not just a few," PM Barzani said in a Twitter statement following his meeting with the Bahraini delegation.

Over 50 heads of governments are expected to attend the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in the Swiss ski resort town of Davos from May 22 to May 26. The Annual Meeting 2022 at Davos will focus on 'history at a turning point', the theme of the summit.
