Kirkuk Hospitals Put on High Alert ahead of New Wave of Dust Storm

ERBIL — Hospitals in the disputed Kurdish province of Kirkuk have been put on high alert as a new wave of a major dust storm is executed soon.

Speaking to Kurdistan 24, Nabil Hamdi, the director of Kirkuk’s health department, said that all preparations have been made for the expected new wave of a dust storm.

The health official added that all the equipment such as oxygen supply, respiratory treatments, eye drops and masks have been prepared for citizens in Kirkuk.

Iraq has been hit by several waves of a dust storm over the past few weeks, forcing the airports in the country to suspend all their incoming and outgoing flights as visibility on the runways usually decreases to less than a few hundred meters, which makes the flight operations risky.
