Turkish Forces Shell Several Villages in Kobani

ERBIL — Turkish forces and Ankara-backed Syrian Islamist groups on Thursday shelled a number of villages in Kobani countryside, in north of Syria, a war monitor reported.

The shelling targeted the villages of Kharab Ato, Zor Maghar, Ziyara, Bayadiyah, and Ahmed Monir in Kobani, without resulting in any casualties, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"This comes in light of the Turkish military escalation on areas in north and east of Syria," SOHR added.

A day earlier, suspected Turkish drones targeted a vehicle on Aleppo-Kobani road, the Britain-based monitoring group said, noting that a few minutes later, "another Turkish drone hit a house in Ain Al-Arab [Kobani]."

In a separate statement, SOHR said four Turkish soldiers were wounded on the Turkish border near Jarabulus.

"The missiles were fired from areas held by [the Syrian] regime forces and Al-Bab Military Council which is affiliated with [the Syrian Democratic Forces] SDF," the monitoring group said.
