ERBIL — The Islamic State (IS) has beheaded four shepherds in Iraq’s northern province of Nineveh, reports said on Saturday.
The beheaded bodies were found on Friday night in the area of Khidhir island, but police transferred them to the forensic department on Saturday morning after receiving a court order, Shafq News reported.
The victims, said to be from Shamar and Jaghayifa tribes, were abducted by IS several weeks earlier.
While remaining active in the north of Iraq, IS militants continue abducting and assassinating security officials and civilians. The abduction and execution of the four shepherds is the latest crime in IS brutal actions in the region.
