ERBIL — An Islamic State (IS) militant, who was responsible for the killing of two Kurdish security officials, was eliminated during an operation in Mount Hamrin, media reports said.
Abdul Ghani Ibrahim Rahim was a ring leader of IS who was believed to be behind the killing of the head of Kulajo Security Office and commander of security operations in Garmiyan, south of Sulaymaniyah province of Kurdistan Region.
Media outlets affiliated with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said Rahim was killed during an operation by the 54th Brigade of the Iraqi Army in Abul Ghazi village, in the foothills of Mount Hamrin.
Rahim is said to have been involved in several other terrorist attacks which targeted the Peshmerga positions in the Garmiyan area of Kurdistan.
