ERBIL — A roadside bomb on Sunday night hit a convoy carrying logistic supplies of the US-led Global Coalition in south of Iraq, media reports said.
The blast took place in Diwaniya province and did not cause any significant damage, local sources confirmed.
No group or organization immediately claimed responsibility, but the pro-Iran Shia militias are often blamed for the attacks targeting the US and Coalition forces.
Since August this year where the fourth round of the US-Iraq Strategic Dialogue was held, the attacks significantly decreased across Iraq.
According to the outcomes of the negotiations between Baghdad and Washington, the US will withdraw all it combat forces from Iraq by the end of the current year.
However, with the low performance of the Iran-backed factions in the Iraqi parliamentary elections held in October, the Shia militias are once again threatening to target the US interests and troops if they do not abide by the agreement and refuse to leave Iraq after 31 December.
