ERBIL — Kurdish Leader and the President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Wednesday received Iraqi President Barham Salih in Erbil.
The two officials exchanged views on the latest political and security developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and beyond, according to a press release by Barzani Headquarters.
The post-election Iraq was also discussed by the Kurdish leader and the president of Iraq, the press release added, explaining that options to help Iraqi political process and overcome the current challenges were also on the agenda.
Salih was in Duhok a day earlier where he spoke at the opening of the Middle East Peace and Security Forum by American University of Kurdistan.
In his speech at the forum, Salih said Iraq was struggling with a deep governing crisis that needed to be resolved in order to bring about peace successfully.
“The problem is not government formation. It is about how to bring about good governance that reflects the needs of Iraqi youth, people, and the components,” Salih added.
