ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister on Thursday allocated 400 million Iraqi Dinar as a rapid response to the rising infections of COVID-19 in Raparin administration.
In the recent days, health officials warned of a dire situation in Raparin where COVID-19 cases rapidly increased and hospitals were overwhelmed with the growing numbers of infected cases.
“At least 250 million will go to the Zhyan hospital for ventilators and medical equipment whilst 150 million is for the general regional health care,” the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said in a statement.
As of October 21, the Kurdistan Region has recorded 352,829 cases of COVID-19, from which 329,327 have so far recovered and 6,188 have lost their lives.
According to the latest updates provided by the KRG Health Ministry, 17,314 active cases are under treatment across the Kurdistan Region now.
On Thursday, the ministry said it had recorded 688 new cases in a single day.
