ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, met on Sunday in Doha where they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
During the meeting, Kurdish and Qatari leaders expressed willingness to further strengthen the relations for greater cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
Emir of Qatar underlined the Iraqi parliamentary elections held last week, calling the event a peaceful process. He also hoped that he will visit Baghdad and Erbil in the near future.
Barzani shed light on the investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region for Qatari businesses, noting that the amended investment laws will facilitate the procedures for foreign investors.
On the Iraqi elections, the Kurdish president hoped that the votes will lead to the establishment of a government which will be able to better serve people from all different components of Iraq.
Barzani arrived in Doha a day earlier. He previously met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
