ERBIL — An earthquake in the early hours of Saturday morning shook Kurdistan Region's Duhok province without leaving any casualties or great material damages, a statement has confirmed.
Kurdistan Region's General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology explained in a statement that the earthquake occured in an area 63 km southwest of Zakho, which was measured at 4.3 on Richter scale, occurring at 2:43 am, Erbil Time.
However, another report was later issued by the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC) and pointed out that Saturday's earthquake was listed as a magnitude 4.4 quake.
No casualties or material damages were immediately reported.
Earlier on September 9, a similar earthquake rattled areas in the Kurdistan Region's Garmiyan Administration with no casualties or great material damages reported.
The quake took place in Kalar district of Garmiyan region at 7:46 pm, local time, nine kilometers deep between the districts of Kafri and Kalar. According to the Seismic monitors, it was measured at 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale.
