Iraq to Repatriate 55 Refugees from Syria's Al-Hol Camp

 

ERBIL — Iraqi authorities are making prepositions to repatriate 55 refugees based in al-Hol camp located in northeast of Syria where dozens of assassination cases have been reported over the past months.

Administrative sources in al-Hol camp in Syrian Kurdistan, also known as Rojava, confirmed on Friday that the camp administration issued a list of 55 names of Iraqi refugees in preparation for their deportation to one of the camps inside the Iraqi territory.

The sources noted that the administration of al-Hol have prepared the 55 refugees to be transferred to al-Jadaa camp in Iraq.

On September 21st, an Iraqi family consisting of four women and an elderly man, in addition to a Tunisian family of six members, escaped from the migrant women section in al-Hol camp.

The Syrian camp witnesses cases of killing at the hands of Islamic State (IS) sleeper cells, where nearly 60 killings and 10 injuries have been recorded since the beginning of this year, affecting the Iraqi refugees and displaced Syrians in the camp.

According to official statistics, al-Hol camp is home to 16,404 families, with a number of 60,351 members, including 8,256 Iraqi families, estimated at 30,738 people, and 5,619 Syrian families, consisting of 21,058 members, and about 2,529 foreign families, estimated at 8,555 people.
