ERBIL — Iraqi Shia cleric and populist politician Muqtada al-Sadr has welcomed the decision by Washington to withdraw the US forces from Iraq.
Sadr indirectly called on other Shia militia groups to halt the attacks on the US forces in Iraq as there is already and agreement for their withdrawal.
He also thanked all the so-called “national resistance” groups, and extended special appreciations for Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
This came hours after the meeting between Kadhimi and US President Joe Biden at the White House, where the announcement was made public.
Washington said it, however, will keep non-combat personnel for advisory and training roles.
