ERBIL - The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 65 More people across Iraq within the previous day, the country's Ministry of Health said on Saturday.

A statement by the ministry pointed out that 7,653 people tested positive for the novel virus while 8,001 patients were discharged from the hospital during the same period.

The new reports bring the coronavirus tally in Iraq and Kurdistan Region to 1,543,501, from which 1,402,537 people have already recovered from the coronavirus and 18,232 others lost their lives.

Although the daily number of coronavirus recoveries was higher than new infections on Saturday, the pandemic situation in Iraq has, indeed, deteriorated over the past few weeks, as the country is facing the third wave of the virus.
