Kurdistan: Despite Fewer Tests 1,078 COVID-19 Cases Recorded

ERBIL - Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that it had detected 1,078 new COVID-19 cases despite the fact that a few number of tests had been conducted in comparison to the previous days.

The ministry usually carries out more than 10,000 tests on a daily basis, but it said in its daily report that 6,849 suspects went through medical checks for the coronavirus across the region within the past 24 hours, probably due to the first day of Eid al-Adha.

During the same period of time, 723 patients were discharged from hospital, while 11 others lost their lives.

The coronavirus tally in the Kurdistan Region now stands at 208,000, out of which 188,780 people have recovered and 4,626 individuals died since March 2020, the ministry said, adding that 14,594 cases remain active.
