Makhmour: IS Releases a Civilian Abductee after $50,000 was Paid

ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants on Saturday freed a man they had abducted last Thursday near Makhmour, southwest of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region.

According to a local source who spoke to Shafaq News, the insurgents had released the abductee after receiving $50,000.

They had previously asked for $120,000 to free the man.

According to the information obtained by BasNews, the abductee was a shepherd who was kidnapped by the IS militants from the surroundings of Palanian village.

Local sources said he is safe and healthy after reuniting with his family.
