ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants in the wee hours of Thursday attacked a village in south of Kirkuk province, wounding two civilians.
A local police source told BasNews that the militants targeted the police forces in the village of Hassan Shalal, but the residents joined the police to defend their homes.
During the confrontation, two civilians were injured, the source confirmed. They were later transferred to a hospital for treatment.
The IS militants are said to have escaped the scene with no casualties on their side.
