ERBIL - Jihadists of the Islamic State (IS) executed a farmer and his son in the Iraqi province of Diyala, a source said on Tuesday.
The insurgents executed the two civilians in north of al-Miqdadiya subdistrict, northeast of Diyala province, earlier the day, the source said in a statement.
He further explained that the farmer and his son were abducted by the jihadist group from the village of Shawk al-Rim and executed them a few hours later in the vicinity of al-Aytha village in the north of al-Miqdadiya.
The militants killed the two after they refused to join the jihadist group.
Iraq is still suffering from Islamic State years after the country announced the group as "fully defeated" in 2017.
