ERBIL - Iraq's Ministry of Health on Sunday reported that it had registered more than 4,000 infections of COVID-19 within the previous day across the country.
The new updates also include those confirmed in the provinces of Kurdistan Region, the ministry said in a statement as reporting 4,160 new cases.
There were also 3,989 new recoveries during the same period, as the pandemic situation is worsening again.
With 25 new fatalities related to COVID-19, the death toll in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region spiked to 16,885.
The total number of coronavirus cases so far confirmed across Iraq since February 2020 now stands at 1,287,465, with 1,200,103 people already recovered.
