Active Coronavirus Cases Down to 7,000: KRG

ERBIL — The total number of active cases of COVID-19 are down to 7,139 after 499 more people recovered over the past 24 hours, said Kurdistan Region’s Health Ministry on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the ministry confirmed 466 new cases with eight fatalities over the past day.

Since the onset of the pandemic, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has registered 178,718 cases of infections, from which 167,189 have recovered and 4,390 have died.

In cooperation with the World Health Organization and the Iraqi government, the KRG has stepped up the vaccination of the people, for which an online portal allows the population to register for a desired vaccine.

The KRG recently announced that travelers arriving in the Kurdistan Region are not required to take COVID-19 test if they are fully vaccinated or hold a negative result of COVID-19 test obtained within 48 hours before the arrival.
