Iraqi Demonstrators Demand Completion of Turkish Hospital in Wasit

ERBIL - A great number of demonstrators in the Iraqi province of Wasit gathered on Wednesday, demanding the completion of a Turkish hospital in the area.

The 400-bed hospital in Wasit province, where the protesters gathered on Wednesday, is said to have been on halt for the past ten years, according to Iraqi reports.

Shafaq News cited its correspondent in the area as revealing that "the completion rate stopped at 31% in 2011," noting that once the hospital is constructed, it would be able to address 60% of the province's healthcare system requirements and secure 5000 job opportunities for the area's unemployed youth.

No further details are currently available on the demonstrations.
