ERBIL - A total of 166,690 people have so far recovered from COVID-19 in the Kurdistan Region since the virus first appeared in the autonomous region.
Currently, 7,180 cases remain active in the Kurdistan Region, the Ministry of Health said in its daily report on Wednesday, pointing out that 488 other patients were discharged from hospital within the previous day.
Out of 8,175 suspects who took tests for the coronavirus, 473 new infections were detected in the region over the past 24 hours, raising the tally to 178,252.
After two other individuals lost their lives due to the pandemic, the death toll spiked to 4,382, the ministry explained.
The coronavirus situation is improving in the Kurdistan Region while it has begun worsening in other parts of Iraq.
