ERBIL — A roadside bomb blast on Tuesday night killed at least three Iraqi soldiers in Diyala province, east of the country.
Diyala Police Spokesperson Nihad Mohammed told BasNews that an improvised explosive device had hit a convoy of the Iraqi Army in Muradiya Zahawi area near Baquba, the provincial capital city of Diyala.
Meanwhile, a checkpoint of the Iraqi Federal Police near Baquba was attacked by the Islamic State (IS) snipers. The attacked left one policeman killed, Mohammed confirmed.
A joint operation by the army and police forces was immediately launched to hunt down the militants. However, it was not clear if any IS insurgents were found or killed during the operation.
