ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Saturday met with Sheykh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces.
Barzani Thanked the UAE for its longstanding support to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, especially through the Emirate’s Red Crescent which provides humanitarian aid to refugees and IDPs in Kurdistan.
The president expressed Kurdistan Region’s willingness to further expand and strengthen the relations with the UAE in different areas of potential cooperation, especially investment and trade.
“We discussed further strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation, regional peace and other issues of mutual interest,” Barzani wrote on Twitter. “I thanked UAE’s leadership for their continued support to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.”
The two officials agreed that development plans in different areas, as well as international and regional cooperation are important for eradicating extremism and terrorism.
