ERBIL - Angry demonstrators in Iraq's Dhi Qar province on Saturday made Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi leave an inauguration ceromony of a bridge.
The prime minister arrived in Nasiriya city of Dhi Qar province to inaugurate a new bridge in the city where protesters blocked a main road the night before to protest poor public services in the area.
However, the premier was soon surrounded by demonstrators who were enchanting slogans and demanding improvement of public services, particularly the power supply.
Kadhimi rushed to leave the site after the protesters started to slur against him, according to Iraqi reports.
On Friday night, dozens of angry demonstrators gathered in al-Gharraf district, blocking the highway between Nasiriya and Sharta cities with burning tires.
