ERBIL - The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 34 other people across Iraq over the past 24 hours, the country's Ministry of Health confirmed on Thursday.
A total of 44,474 individuals went through medical checks for COVID-19 within the previous day, out if which 4,689 people were found positive for the virus, the ministry explained in a statement.
During the same period, 4,086 new recoveries were also recorded in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The death toll has now risen to 16,648.
Iraq has so far registered 1,242,540 COVID-19 cases, from which 1,159,973 individuals have recovered from the novel virus while 65,919 cases remain active, according to the ministry.
