ERBIL — Iraq’s Security Media Cell has confirmed that the Wednesday’s attack on Baghdad International Airport was carried out by three explosive-laden drones.
The Security Media Cell also revealed in a statement that one drone was shot down over Camp Victoria at the airport, where the US forces are stationed.
There was no information available about the other two drones.
The attack came hours after multiple rockets targeted Balad Air Base in north of Baghdad.
Following repeated attacks, reports said the US had withdrawn its contractors from Balad Air Base in the recent months.
