ERBIL - A number of rockets on Wednesday night targeted Iraq's Balad airbase without any casualties or injuries reported.
Iraq's Security Media Cell confirmed the report in a statement and pointed out that three rockets targeted Balad airbase and that the incident did not result in any casualties or injuries.
The Iraqi base, located in Salahaddin province, used to host a number of US contractors who were said to have been moved from the base following repeated rocket attacks on the site.
However, a Telegram channel affiliated to Iran's IRGC claimed that "more than five rockets have hit the Balad air base."
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack and no groups or sides were immediately blamed for it either.
However, Washington often accuses the Iran-backed militia groups of being behind rocket attacks and roadside bombs against the US forces in Iraq.
