ERBIL - Over the past 24 hours, 4,608 new infections of COVID-19 have been registered while 6,203 patients were discharged from the hospital in Iraq, as the pandemic situation is improving in the country.
The daily number of cases used to be almost twice higher than the recoveries until a few days ago in Iraq, but the country's Health Ministry has been reporting more recoveries than infections lately.
However, the coronavirus claimed 39 other lives on Saturday, raising the death toll to 15,741, the health ministry said in a statement.
The new reports bring the tally to 1,108,558, from which 998,626 people have recovered since the virus first appeared in Iraq, according to the latest available updates.
There are currently 94,191 active cases of COVID-19 across Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region. A total of 425,628 people in the country have so far been vaccinated.
